2 Definition of cookies
Cookies are small text files that are sent from websites to the terminals of users who visit them. After being stored by the terminals, they are retransmitted to the same websites at the next visit of the same terminal (“first-party cookies”). While browsing a website, the user may also receive cookies from different websites or web servers (“third-party cookies”) on his terminal that are set by a website other than the one he is currently visiting. This happens because the website visited may contain elements such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, which reside on servers other than the one on which the requested page is located.
The duration of cookies can be of different types. In fact, there are temporary cookies (i.e. limited to a single browsing session on the browser) that are automatically deactivated when the user closes the browser; or persistent cookies that have a predetermined expiry date and will remain stored and active on the user’s hard disk until their expiry date or voluntary deletion, continuing to collect information during different browsing sessions on the browser.
3 Cookie classification
3.1 Technical cookies
Technical cookies are used for the sole purpose of allowing the user to navigate the website and use it to its full potential. They can be first-party or third-party cookies, as they are not managed directly by Pizval.
Some technical cookies, “navigation cookies”, are essential to offer the user an optimal navigation experience or to allow the registration of a user profile that allows, for example, access to the private area on the website or an online purchase. Navigation cookies are normally temporary cookies.
Other technical cookies, “functionality cookies”, are useful for storing some user preferences (for example, the language, the type of browser or the country of origin) without having to reset them during subsequent visits. Functionality cookies are often persistent cookies.
3.2 Analytical cookies
Analytical cookies are used on the website to collect statistical information, in aggregate or non-aggregate form, on the number of users who access the website and how they visit it.
3.3 Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are used to collect personal data and create a user profile, based on the preferences shown while browsing the web. They allow us to offer the user advertising messages adapted to their consumer profile based on their tastes and habits.
As required by current legislation on privacy, the installation of these cookies requires the user’s prior consent.
The user is free to prevent the installation of profiling cookies at any time, without compromising the ability to visit the website and enjoy its contents. If the user decides to disable profiling cookies, this does not mean that he or she will no longer receive advertising on the website. Furthermore, the advertising displayed may not reflect his or her interests.
